Hope Prison Ministries is seeking mentors to correspond with inmates from across the country.  The friends and families of the inmates have sponsored their incarcerated loved ones, helping us to help them.Ideal mentors will be seminary students, retired pastors, biblical counselors, or just well-studied church members.

You should have a place where the inmates can write you other than your home.

You should NEVER send money to an inmate, regardless of their sob story, under ANY circumstances.

You should not sign up with the ulterior motive of pursuing something other than a strictly platonic relationship.

The way you communicate with the inmate(s) assigned to you will vary but most of the time you will be able to communicate electronically (via www.jpay.com or some other service).  When no electronic communication is available, we often use www.mailaletter.com.

We are able to pay for postage and books for you or you may offer this as part of your volunteer service.  Should you choose to apply to become a mentor, we will contact you to find out how you would like to proceed in this regard.

Your responsibilities will consist of faithfully corresponding with the inmate(s) assigned to you, pointing them to Christ with every word you write, helping them grow in grace and truth, writing letters, discussing books, discussing their plans for release, etc.
